parmazano

vegan parmesan alternative. to enhance pasta, etc. whereever a taste of cheese is required.

get it online. i also found it at vegane zeiten in cologne.

melissa plastic shoes

these coulorful cruelty free shoes come from brazil and are perfect for all seasons, except maybe winter.

they are made of a material called mel-flex plastic which is non-toxic, hypo-allergenic, extremely flexible and recyclable. the company is very eco-friendly in that 99.9% of factory water and waste is recycled.

i saw a few models at boo boutique in luxembourg city. check the vivienne westwood collection!

you get a good overview of the collections at their aussie site: www.melissaaustralia.com.au.

online you find a selection of melissa shoes at www.yoox.com (free delivery!) (30-100€)

cheezly

sadly you cannot get „fake“ cheese in luxembourg; at least i haven’t found any (yet?), except of course the „analogkäse“ they put on food in many restaurants.

you will have to go to biogate in central trier where you’ll find this one: cheezly knoblauch/kräuter (garlic/herbs). i put it on my vegan pizza.

if you like other flavors get them online…

skinny bitch & skinny bitch in the kitch

funny and interesting

veg 1

also vegans should get enough vitamins. b12 is important for the human body and is hard to find in plant foods. however, it is often added to a variety of vegan foods like soy milk.

make sure to get enough b12. by taking the vitamin supplement veg 1 daily you don’t have to worry about it!

you can get veg 1 online, here the downside are the postal charges.for example:
www.alles-vegetarisch.de

when you are in cologne go and check the little shop vegane zeiten.
www.vegane-zeiten.de

veg 1 costs 10€ and one box lasts for a month.

meat and masculinity according to moby

moby has a new book coming out called gristle. in an interview with the discerning brute joshua katcher, he talks about meat and masculinity:

i’ve always found it strange that macho guys express their masculinity by eating cows.
...
if you gonna be a badass, go eat a jaguar, you know, go wrestle, like chase a wolf in the woods an kill it with you teeth. and then i’ll be impressed with someones masculinity. but like eating a vegetarian animal that is standing docile in a field… chickens and cows, i don’t know how anybody proves their masculinity by eating a chicken or a cow.

guys will talk about: yeah, let’s have a rare steak!
i’m like: what you are talking about is an uncooked vegetarian animal that doesn’t have the sense of mind to run away from you when you chase it.

wheaty! no need for meat!

wheaty offers a range of tasty meat substitutes. use the salami slices to put on your homemade pizza.

also their goulasch or greek style gyros are ready to enjoy in a few minutes!

the hemp or pyrossi spacebars are perfect to go.

when invited to a barbecue bring the frankenberger or country style (bratknackies bauern-art) sausages. your meat eating friends will love them too.

you can find several of their products at cactus (belle étoile for example) and naturata.

vegan in luxembourg?

it's not up to me to tell people what to do or how to live their lives. politicians, teachers, parents, commercials, etc. do that more than enough.
who says vegans are right? well, some vegans might.

here (aspiring) vegans living in luxembourg find support and information. luxembourg is not the worst place to be vegan as there are many places with a more or less wide range of plant based selections. there could be more. it might seem tricky in the beginning but the benefits are woth it.

veganism is not only about food. it's a lifestyle. it's a choice which can be made for various reasons. the obvious reason is the desire not to support animal suffering any longer. another reason might be to lose weight or heal and recover from a disease.

vegetarianism is great but veganism is better.
